Once, every city had an Odean cinema as a feature of it’s landscape. In just 10 years between the founding of the chain in Birmingham and founder Oscar Deutsch’s death in 1941, 258 Odean cinemas opened throughout Britain, more than half of them in new buildings. With their cloud-piercing towers and sweeping lines, Odean’s were a promise of the shapes of things to come.
